6. Bittersweet (True North)
Author Sarina Bowen does a lot of second chance romances, and I enjoy them. This one follows Griffin and Audrey. Griffin is a grumpy farmer. Mac is a painter and an artist. But he’s an alcoholic, and he will go through these maudlin periods and then fight. Then he would run away for a while and return later, and it slowly broke. Isabella had a miscarriage, and Mac was away painting. He was drunk when he returned, and she couldn’t take it anymore. She loves him, but she needs time away from him.

About ten years ago, he was still in love with Lady Eleanor and engaged to her. But he took it for granted, and he had mistresses then. So, his mistress at the time met Eleanor and liked her.
It’s a huge part of the book’s storyline, why they’re so dark and have different desires because their dad tortured them. Also, it was horrible, and my heart is into BDSM. So Hart owns a house where people can go to do that. He’s not quite a pimp, but he owns the premise and his mistress. She ends up running it later and becomes the madam of the place. But she felt bad for Eleanor because Eleanor was such a sweet woman, and partly, she did it to get back at heart.

15. Fumbled (Playbook)
Our main character, Poppy, is a single mom, and she runs into TK Moore, a professional football player. They had a romance when she was 16, and she ended it. It’s their second chance. TK Moore is a hard character at the beginning because he’s closed off to her. She broke his heart when they were younger, so it’s hard to trust her again. But once he breaks down those walls, he is so swoon-worthy.
It’s nice seeing Poppy open up herself again to love. Being a single mom for six years has caused her to put her family first, not herself. So it’s a very cute romance. It’s very football-heavy and deals with the concussion controversy in football.
